Interesting Facts:
- Some venues forbade toplessness, so Carrie Inaba had to wear a halter top to conceal her assets.
- In Toronto Madonna held up traffic when she jogged through the streets.
- Orthodox Jews staged protests to cancel Madonna's first-ever show in Israel.
- In Puerto Rico, an uproar was caused when Madonna rubbed the Puerto Rican flag between her legs on stage.
- Caught by reporters at the birthplace of Christ in Jerusalem, Madonna called them "sons of whores" and hurled other vicious slurs in Hebrew and Arabic, then dodged a meeting with Mayor Teddy Koleck.
- The Girlie Show required 1500 costumes for the cast, and a 24-hour set up time for the enormous stage.
"Why does the rhetoric of fiaso and decline hover over the production like a vulture? Forget the naysayers - the wise thing to do is try to get tickets. Madonna may have failed at other things, but her stage performance - her fluent and daring dancers imagination, her genius for iconographic playfulness, her libertine expansiveness - is a wonder of our times." - The New Yorker.
